Wyclef Jean and Yéle Haiti

In 2005 Voilà was proud to be a founding contributor of Wyclef Jean’s foundation Yéle Haiti, which works to improve the lives of Haitians through better education, health, environmental, and community development. Wyclef Jean’s vision and principles on the development of Haiti as expressed by the excellent work done by Yéle Haiti was a perfect match for Voilà. The decision to support the community by supporting Yéle was done to ensure that our contributions could have a much longer lasting effect for Haiti.

Through the support of Yéle, Voilà is contributing to many facets of Haitian life.

Sports:

Athletique D’Haiti, a program which helps underprivileged children discover the positive impact of structured sport activities and introduces sport activities for people over 20 years of age.

Education:

Since 2005, Voilà and Yéle have been awarding scholarships to underprivileged students for primary education. Concentrated in Gonaive in 2005 and 2006 to help recover from the disaster of "Cyclone Jeanne," in 2006 to 2007 this program extended in coverage to allow 6,850 students nationwide to receive scholarships.

Voilà and Yéle also gave university scholarships and help set up a computer lab at the University Jacques Premier to help introduce new technology to the next generation of the Haitian workforce.

Women:

Through Yéle Cuisine, Voilà is helping women get a start at small businesses to help gain independence. This program starts by giving them contracts to feed the children involved in the after-school sports programs.

Entertainment:

Aware of the importance of relaxation and entertainment, Voilà supports Yéle Cinema to bring the magic of the big screen to the people through open-air movies.

Environment:

Yéle and Voilà are proud supporters of Fondation Seguin, which works toward revitalizing the forest of the Seguin area, as well as educating the people of Seguin about the importance of protecting it.

In 2006 Voilà was proud to introduce the Voilà Foundation, which will continue to support Yéle Haiti and also continue support for other smaller social programs at different community levels, such as Femme en Creation and our current program of installing basketball hoops in neighborhoods around the capital and eventually across the country.

Voilà is committed to follow the rhythm of your life.
